Reflection: January 25, 2012
We have ended up using seven different cameras and the technology has become baffling to me. We are still working to put it together, but it's taken 2 weeks longer to complete our project. I will be recruiting adult help to put it all together for next week.
Reflection: December 12, 2011
Students are well on their way to writing a commercial for WIS. This has a lot to do with their group cooperation and planning. I have noticed how nicely the groups are making plans together, talking it out, and listening to each others ideas. We have practiced cooperation in many different partnerships and now they are working together efficiently in groups.
The Jello commercial on the homepage of this wiki, was used to observe what kinds of things are being said, sung, danced to, shown, along with who is in the commercial and what they're doing to show the product. The students have also used the website kidsvid.4teachers.org to begin creating their own ideas of different scenes to be shown in their group video. This is only for individual brainstorming, and then the students have come back together to decide what kinds of scenes they want to put into their commercial. This website also shows ways to use the camera such as zoom in, zoom out, pan right, pan left, etc.
An inquiry into the ways in which we discover and express ideas, feelings, nature, culture, beliefs and values; the ways in which we reflect on, extend and enjoy our creativity; our appreciation of aesthetic.
Central Idea:
Advertising uses a variety of techniques
SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT:
The students’ final assessment will be to create a commercial advertising WIS. They will work in three groups, two with four and one with five. Each student will have two jobs to do. One being the part of the group that takes care of either: speaker (telling me what’s happening), asker (asking me for help or for something they need), recorder (what has happened every day that they have worked), materials (bring together the paperwork and equipment needed), or (for the fifth person in one group, the time manager). The other two groups will combine two jobs. The other job will be to do the actual work required of the project. This will be to sing, act, draw, write, or build. The Central Idea requires students to use a variety of methods in a persuasive commercial to reach it’s audience.
